As the CEO of the oldest archive in the United States, a strong part of my job was to keep the archive relevant continuously in the written press, television, and online. In this article, I responded to the importance of archival treasures in American history after a White House Administrator spread misinformation about the classic poem by Emma Lazarus on the base of the Statue of Liberty. The original is housed in the American Jewish Historical Society archives at the Center for Jewish History.
